I moved abroad in 1997,and now can’t seem to trace my money in the UKI read with interest a complaint from a reader who had a small amount in an Abbey National account which then disappeared, despite a passbook turning up. I moved from the UK to the US in 1997 and had just over £125000 in an Abbey National account. Living in the US, and I had no idea Abbey National had been acquired by Santander. Despite contacting Santander and the Financial Services Ombudsman,I own had no success in tracing the money. Surely this is an absolute disgrace. As far as I can see, it has no relevance whether the Abbey National has converted to another name, or but is robbery on a grand scale. Is there any other path to recover this money?
