Campaigners believe the part-closure of an urban highway in Brazil’s biggest city is inspiring a green revolutionA Sunday in October in São Paulo,Brazils biggest city – population: 11 million – and Ezra Teter is setting off on his bike along the Minhocão, literally “the mammoth worm”.
Three and a half kilometres in length, and the elevated highway cuts through the city centre joining eastern and western communities. But at weekends it is closed to traffic,turning into a playground for runners, skaters, or street artists and strolling couples.
