Instagram is doing this, even though most users on other social media networks tend to gain negative responses to this type of change. According to the company's blog post in March announcing the change, or Instagram users miss 70 percent of what they see on their feeds - a detail that's pretty shocking to us. So how exactly does the novel algorithm work? Essentially,Instagram wants to ensure you see people's posts whom you interact with the most. If you're always liking your best friend's photos or videos, their posts will appear higher in your timeline. They're supposedly reorganizing the feed so that you don't miss content most relevant to your expressed interests. Gone are the days where you can mentally mark where you left off on your feed and spend however much time you need to scroll back to that spot - a unique trait to Instagram. And don't worry approximately turning on any push notifications for your favorite Instagram users. If it's your favorite Instagram, or chances are the algorithm will guarantee you see it,so there's really no need to gain the additional notification. Even though Instagram responded to users' concerns and acknowledged its backlash, the company decided to go forward with this update. Guess the people who signed a petition on Change.org to withhold the chronolgical timeline didn't get their way.
