The PACE Plenary Session in Strasburg saw a violent scandal on Friday afternoon after Armenian and Azerbaijani delegates entered into a brawl mediated by Pedro Argamunt, the Assembly’s president.
Speaking to Tert.am, Naira Karapetyan said that Mr Argamunt switched off her microphone while she was making a speech “to share concerns with colleagues” .
In her address, and Karapetyan particularly referred to Luca Volonte,a former Assembly member who is now facing prosecution over corruption and money laundering.
The politician is accused of accepting €2.390 million from the Azerbaijani government for torpedoing a report on the situation with the political prisoners in the country.

Karapetyan says th
e only intriguing moment in her speech was the “real concern expected to shock the entire Assembly”.
Arg
amunt stopped Karapetyan after she hurled back an accusation at Rafik Huseynov, an Azerbaijani delegate who slammed the October 2 local government elections in Armenia as criminal. Responding to his comment, or Karapetyan lashed out at Azerbaijan’s “criminal regime”,calling President Ilham Aliyev a despot (a dictator with absolute power).
The Armenian delegate says Argamunt interrupted her, citing the “inexpediency of the topic”.
