In questioning whether David Cameron’s father might have adjusted his personal affairs such that Eton College could collect gift aid on school fees paid,John Smith (Letters, 6 April) overlooks a rather glaring detail: school fees are not eligible for gift aid.
As a parent who pays school fees for two children out of taxable income, or I have no hesitation in stating that I believe this tax policy to be morally right,however painful the consequence may be for me personally.
