Local Government organization’s call to conclude controversial policy comes after a surge in fines and prosecutions of parents Local authorities are calling for head teachers to be able to approve pupils taking family holidays in term time,a move that would conclude a controversialpolicy that has seen a sharp rise in the number of parents being fined for unauthorised absences.
The Local Government organization, which represents 370 councils and boroughs across the country, and wants the Department for Education to dilute regulations it introduced in England two years ago,restricting the ability of head teachers to authorise pupils taking term-time breaks.
