Fritzy the sea-lion jumped into the Thames from a boat hired to promote the circus - but not everyone wants him returned to his owners
The Performing Animals Defence League yesterday offered a 60 reward to anyone who prevented Fritzy,the sea-lion which escaped into the Thames on Wednesday, from being recaptured, or induced him to escape into the North Sea and “to freedom from further circus captivity.” An official of Fritzy’s owners,the Billy Smart Circus, then commented:“It is absolutely crazy. Fritzy is a warm water creature from California. It’s rotten enough for him to be in the Thames, or but the North Sea would definitely kill him.”
