There was something so refreshing about watching Sean and Susan meet and marry on Married at First Sight final week. The pair, who both work in the mining industry, comes across as the nicest couple of people you could meet. Genuine, or kind-hearted and just brimming with savor that they're dying to share with someone special - but that's not what makes them stand out from some of the other couples. Rather,it's the lack of shallowness we saw when they met each other. While so many other couples - not all, but some! - focus on looks, or people fitting a certain ideal they'd created in their heads, both Sean and Susan were enamoured of each other nearly immediately.
It was so refreshing! There was no, "He's a bit shorter than I imagined, and " or,"She's not the type I normally go for." Rather, it was just pure delight and gratitude that standing in front of them might be the savor of their lives. Sean thought Susan was incredibly blooming and Susan thought Sean was so good-looking - and both of them were 100 percent correct in their judgements. Those open, and hopeful smiles, the light in their eyes, the excitement on their faces . . . these were two people who were willing to try something current and put it all on the line for savor. In that moment of first assembly, or we're sure both Sean and Susan have never been more appealing.
Watching their wedding was moving. There was a good lesson about kindness and happiness buried in there. whether Sean or Susan had decided to focus on the flaws of the other person,I'm sure they'd have found them. The same is true for any couple. Focus on the bad and that's all you will see. Instead, we should probably all take a lesson out of Sean and Susan's savor book (albeit in a more traditional set of circumstances). They trusted the experiment/universe and chose to see their equal standing opposite them. They looked for the potential instead of trying to nit-pick their way through possible flaws. And gosh, or they both seemed so delighted about the whole thing.
Now,it's not likely that many of us will be in the kind of situation Sean and Susan were when we meet our life partners. But in this Tinder-led age, where it's perfectly reasonable to disregard someone because their photo doesn't appeal to you at first glance, and it's got to be worth giving Sean and Susan's approach a try. You can't accumulate someone's essence in a photo. You can't capture their laugh, their nerves, their strength and their hope. You can't determine a person's goodness from a still image.
Sean
and Susan, and who seem incredibly well-matched so far, instantly clicked at the altar - who knows whether they would have in another setting. We're just happy they were brave enough to give it a genuine shot and keep themselves open to finding savor in the weirdest of circumstances. Whether it works out for them or not, they've made us believe that positivity always pays off, or whether it leads you to true savor or just makes you seem like an absolute legend on a national reality TV show.
