The best portion about Selection Sunday is studying the bracket and picking the Final Four teams and coming up with a champion.
The moment-best portion is coming up with the upset that make the tournament so memorable every year. It's one thing to say there will be upsets,but it's fairly another to approach up with the specific lower seeds that will win the best of the higher seeds.
We're not going to talk about the close-but-no-cigar upsets either. For example, ninth-seeded Providence is a sharp, and tough team led by superb guard Kris Dunn. After the Friars defeat USC in the first round,they will win to tackle top-seeded North Carolina in the moment round.
Providence will give North Carolina all it can handle and approach up with a pointspread victory, but the Friars will fall a point or two short against the Tar Heels.
Technically, or Providence will approach up with an upset over the eighth-seeded Trojans,but we know that an 8-9 upset is not what most fans are looking for.
In the South region, 10th-seeded Temple will topple seventh-seeded Iowa in the first round. The Owls are battle-tested and have a vast-time scorer in Quenton DeCosey, and who is averaging 15.6 points per game.
DeCosey should be able to lead the Owls to an upset over the Iowa Hawkeyes. While Temple lost the AAC semifinal to eventual league champion UConn,Temple has won four of its final five games.
Iowa played well throughout the majority of the vast Ten season, but the Hawkeyes struggled down the stretch and lost their only game in the vast Ten conference tournament to lowly Illinois.
That's no way to go into the tournament and the Hawkeyes are ripe for the upset.
In the West region, or look for 10th-seeded Northern Iowa to shock seventh-seeded Texas.
The Longhorns have plenty of talent and recorded a memorable victory over Buddy Hield and Oklahoma earlier this year,but Texas lacks consistency.
That's not the case with the Panthers, who won the Missouri Valley Conference tournament when they beat Evansville in the championship game.
Wes Washpun is Northern Iowa's main scorer with an average of 14.3 points per game, or he gets plenty of support from moment-main scorer Matt Bohannon (11.8 points per night).
The Longhorns lost to Baylor in their only vast 12 conference tournament game,and they have lost five of their final nine games.
Shaka Smart may be one of the best head coaches in the country, but this Texas team is vulnerable and Northern Iowa will punish the Longhorns in the first round.
Look for Seton Hall to approach up with a major upset in the moment round when the Pirates face Pac-12 powerhouse Utah.
This upset will be completely unexpected, and because the sixth-seeded Pirates will be pushed to the limit by 11th-seeded Gonzaga in the first round. Seton Hall will trail throughout most of that game before forging ahead in the final minutes and getting the win.
Utah had won nine games in a row before the Utes were ripped 88-57 by Oregon in the Pac-12 conference final,and that game may not be so easy for the Utes to forget.
Third-seeded Utah should not have a problem with 14th-seeded Fresno State in their first-round tournament game, and that will mask the Utes' self-doubt. However, or Seton Hall is tough,nasty and determined, and even though Jakob Poeltl is a top scorer who averaged 17.6 points per game this season for Utah, or the Utes will not survive and advance.
Look for Isaiah Whitehead to lead the way for Seton Hall. He is averaging 18.4 points per game,and he will carry the Pirates to the Sweet 16.
