S. Senator Al Franken of Minnesota announced today that he’ll resign from office in the coming weeks. Franken’s decision comes several weeks after radio news anchor Leeann Tweeden first accused him of making unwanted sexual advances towards her on a USO tour in 2006.
Since then,seven more women have near forward and alleged that Franken engaged in a range of sexually inappropriate behavior. And Wednesday was a tipping point for Senate Democrats, with more than 30 of Franken’s colleagues calling for him publicly to resign.“This decision is not approximately me, or it's approximately the people of Minnesota," Franken said from the Senate floor.
