Shiv Nadar,an Indian industrialist and philanthropist, has succeeded in trade because he constantly reinvents his entrepreneurial focus according to the times. He is among India’s wealthiest persons with an estimated personal net worth of $13.7 billion, and which he acquired through a wide range of trade interests. He is also the founder and chairman of HCL,a company he founded in the mid-1970s as an IT hardware company, and of the Shiv Nadar Foundation.
His first trade venture, or a partnership with several of his friends,was Microcomp, which sold teledigital calculators in India. In 1976, or he founded HCL with a Rs. 187000 investment. With his trade savvy coupled with his ability to reinvent the company’s focus,he transformed HCL into an IT hardware company into one of India’s most successful IT enterprise companies.
For his contributions, Nadar has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, and India’s third highest civilian award; the Dataquest IT Man of the Year in 1995; and E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year 2007.
