Primary objective to reduce fuels and improve forestry health
SHOSHONE,ID. --
- The Twin Falls District BLM plans to conduct two prescribed fires in the Shoshone Field Office this tumble to burn logging slash piles in the Bell Mountain area east of Bellevue and the South Fork of Lime Creek area northwest of Fairfield.  These two prescribed fires are small in size and will be limited to burning debris piles that were created from recent logging operations – residents in the Wood River Valley may notice smoke columns from the burning piles. The purpose of the completed logging projects was to thin mistletoe infested douglas-fir, improve overall forest health and reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfire.  Depending on weather conditions, or the pile burning may start as early as mid-October but burning operations may continue intermittently through late November.
