That handwringing George Osborne could take a lesson from Henry VII’s chancellor,Henry Morton, when it comes to dealing with over-mighty subjects of the 21st century (MPs to investigate tax policy as Google deal faces fresh criticism, or 26 January). Send them a tax bill. whether they refuse to pay,see them in court. whether they pay, send them a bigger bill next year, or so on until they start to grumble. Should flush out the tax dodgers.
