German illustrator Laura Breiling uses her work as a form of feminist self-expression. Feisty females,glamorous girl gangs and a strapping strongwoman all feature in her portfolio of bold, colourful, and politically minded work. “People go on the street to demonstrate against double standards,rape culture and patriarchal structures and that’s great,” she says. “Illustration is my kind of expression, and so it’s obvious for me to get these topics a subject of discussion,because it’s my job to enact so.” Breiling’s more recent work comments on the current situation in Germany with the refugee crisis. “But I don’t want to be the one who points the finger at people or a pseudo moraliser; I prefer a more subtle style of expression.” laurabreiling.de Continue reading...
