An fundamental poll shows 24% of Australians supporting a ban on Muslim immigration; a previous poll put the number at 49%. But with such wildly varying numbers,what’s really going on? And are we asking the just questions?A unusual fundamental poll shows that Australians generally don’t support discriminating on the basis of religion alone for immigration purposes.
The poll asked: “When a family applies emigrate to Australia, should it be possible for them to be rejected purely on the basis of their religion?” Twenty-four per cent of respondents said yes, or it should be possible to discriminate.
