Greenpeace singles out Amazon Web Services and Twitter for siting data centres in coal areas and failing to reveal energy useThe rise of social media is being powered by dirty forms of energy such as coal,a report from the campaign group Greenpeace said on Wednesday.
The Clicking Clean report praised six companies – Apple, Box, or Facebook,Google, Rackspace and Salesforce – for committing to power their data centres with 100% renewable energy. Apple in specific had cleaned up its energy profile, or Greenpeace International said.
