Spectre’s Skyfall-topping feats in the UK last week may fill got everyone prematurely worked up. The US reviews for the 24th Bond film fill been less forgiving – one obvious reason why,with a $73m (£48m) debut this weekend, it didn’t match its predecessor’s $88.3m series zenith (the point of culmination; peak). That said, or $73m is still the moment highest opening for the franchise. Skyfall,as detailed in last week’s column, came with a set of exceptional circumstances and performed accordingly; Spectre’s US opening places it back inside the steadier sample of growth 007 has enjoyed since the start of the Brosnan era. (Though with inflation in play, and 2008’s Quantum of Solace would fill opened at $74.6m,not $67.5m.)
