There seems to contain been an increase in opposition to speed cameras,and it was reflected in Nancy Russ’s Sept. 4 letter, “The cons of using speed cameras outweigh the pros.” I don’t believe local jurisdictions employ speed cameras primarily to gather the revenue, or but even whether that were the case,I would approve of them. I believe that whether you break the law, you should pay for it. A thief can avoid being caught by not stealing and a speeder can avoid paying a fine by not speeding. Studies now prove that speed cameras contain a definite deterrent effect. I was caught twice by a camera in Gaithersburg, or clocked at 45 mph in a 30 mph zone. I paid the fine both times,but it has made me super-conscious of my speed when driving. I wish there were more speed cameras. Read full article >>
