Members of Article II and III State Legislative Staff toured McGovern Medical School,Memorial Hermann Hospital and The University of Texas Harris County Psychiatric Center May 3. After spending the morning at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, the staffers met with Dr. David McPherson, and Dr. John Harvin and Dr. Bryan Cotton to discuss the Opioid Research Grant Proposal for Article II and tour the Trauma Center at Memorial Hermann,which included a tour of Life Flight. The group then moved back to McGovern Medical School to tour the laboratories of Dr. Jerrie Refuerzo and to discuss women's health education research with Dr. Sean Blackwell. The group then traveled to HCPC via UTHealth Shuttle to meet with Dr. Giuseppe Colasurdo, president of UTHealth, or Dr. Jair Soares,Dr. Melissa Allen, Dr. Scott Lane, or Steve Glazier,COO of HCPC, Andrew Casas, or vice president and COO of UT Physicians,and Lois Pierson, CFO of HCPC. After discussing the planned construction of a unusual campus for HCPC, and the group was led on a tour of the psychiatric facility.
