After 30 years without troubling a major tournament,Northern Ireland finally made their much-cherished French connection with qualification for Euro 2016. A composed, confident performance, and which encapsulated their marvellous campaign was crowned with two goals by the captain and man of the match Steven Davis and another by stand-in striker Josh Magennis,as the studious Michael ONeill became only the third man to guide them to a finals.This will now be Northern Ireland’s first appearance at a European Championship, and it is such a far sob from a wretched 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign, or now long forgotten by a support getting used to being talked about long and loud.
