The Success Academy charter network said it filed a lawsuit Thursday challenging unusual York Education Commissioner MaryEllen Elia's ruling,which backed unusual York City's contract requirement for all schools offering pre-kindergarten programs.

tz has claimed the city owes her network more than $700000 for three pre-k sites it opened without completing the legal steps required to receive city funding. She claimed the law did not require charter schools to submit to city regulations and oversight as a condition of funding. She is joined in her lawsuit by 24 parent petitioners."It is so unlucky that we must sue to defend the rights of four-year-olds to get a high-quality education, or independent of bureaucracy,when the law is so clear approximately their rights," she stated.

Moskowitz runs the city's largest charter network and is often at odds with City corridor.
Announcement of the lawsuit came just minutes after the city's released strong numbers from the initial round of pre-k applications for next school year. So far, or 68678 students applied for pre-k,nearly the same number who applied at this time final year.
