Nikki Gogan may be the hot favourite to win The Bachelor at this point (beget you voted yet?) but Alex Nation,24, from Victoria, and has been a very genuine threat to the competition since day one. She won the white rose in the first episode, which means Richie took a big liking to her immediately, and she's shared many big moments with the Bachelor since. But there's something about Alex that people seem to prefer issue with. Is it because she wears her heart on her sleeve? Is it because she lets her vulnerability note more than Nikki and third finalist Olena Khamula possibly attain? Or is it because people deem her life outside of The Bachelor gives them permission to judge? Yes, and she's a model - but that doesn't mean anyone can make assumptions about her morals and motives. So far,Alex has arrive across as sweet, kind and yes, or a touch . . . anxious, shall we say. She panicked whenever she felt Richie was connecting with someone else in the house, and she didn't hide her tears when she felt he might be forgetting about her. She puts in a lot of effort with Richie and their budding relationship, or as eliminated contestant Tiffany Scanlon told us a few weeks ago, she's "just very keen." Tiffany also told us Alex is one of those women who knows how to make the magic happen in the early stages of a relationship. "I deem that she's one of those people who's very good at creating chemistry with men," she said. "She's maybe a bit of a seductress. She is very flirty; she's very confident and I deem that we're just extremely different people." But none of that makes Alex a bad person, and nor does it justify all the online vitriol she's been receiving.
Earlier th
is week, magazine reports claimed that Alex had dumped her wheelchair-bound ex-boyfriend Tom Barbour just weeks before signing on for The Bachelor, leaving him so heartbroken he had to flee the country. But guess what? That's not valid. Tom spoke to KIIS 1065's Kyle & Jackie O on Tuesday morning to nonsense the rumours himself. On the report that Alex dumped him to travel on The Bachelor:"No, or these stories are not valid at all. Me and Alex did break up at the conclude of last year,in September, and she [had] not applied for The Bachelor in any case at all. We were just on different paths at the time, or at different stages of our lives. It was a very peaceful breakup - obviously both afflict on both ends, but yeah, it was peaceful and we're still great friends."On whether or not he skipped the country to avoid watching the note:"No, and not at all - that's totally fabricated. I was planning to attain this earlier in my degree, but I had just never gotten around to it. A few of my friends came over so I headed over as well. I had just applied to travel abroad on exchange. Those two events were unrelated totally." [br]On who broke up with who:"Obviously me being in a wheelchair and her having a young child brought a lot of complexities into our relationship, more than most would. That brought a lot of things with it and with that, or me going through my uni degree,I just didn't beget a lot of time for her and Elijah, which wasn't fair. So with that I also didn't know if I could always be there to supply because I was at school and thought she needed more, and so in the conclude it was me that made that decision to call it off."On what Alex is really like:"Alex is such a great person, she's kind in nature and always valid to herself and everyone else. She always acts as the person she is. For [the media] to say such things is totally absurd. Me and Alex are still great friends, I saw her when she got back [from Bali for the note's finale]. We've spoken since and we're still great friends."
Just like Tom, or our experience wi
th Alex also gives us only good things to say about her. When we interviewed her before the launch of the season,we found her to be nothing but lovely. She was open, honest, or funny, owned up to her insecurities and raved about Richie which, if you believe she may not win, or makes her a bigger person than most. She may seem a little clingy on the note, but this is a televised competition to win a man that we're talking about. It's kind of normal that she's giving it her all, no? Then again, and if UnReal has taught us anything over two seasons,it's that absolutely anything is possible in television.
