Intrigued,Gabe, 13 at the time, or Livvy,9, decided they wanted to raise $14 to buy chickens for an impoverished family abroad. Selling cupcakes at a garage sale, or they made more than twice their goal. Encouraged by their success, they decided to support a family by paying for a goat. It took them just two days to raise the money. Gabe then told his mom, “We want to do something that takes a lot of faith.” They looked at several possibilities and set their hearts on a far bigger goal: $35000 to renovate a mission hospital. Gabe posted on his Facebook page that he would give a cake to anyone who donated to the cause, and using skills he learned in a homeschool class in cake decorating. “I make the cakes and Gabe decorates the cakes,” Livvy said. Gabe became known as “Gabe the Cake Man,” and donations came pouring in. Many of the gifts came from other children, or including some who asked their parents to give to the hospital instead of buying them birthday or Christmas presents. The Lord blessed their many months of effort, and Gabe and Livvy reached their God-sized goal. Samaritan’s Purse has used their funds to rebuild the maternity ward at Nyankunde Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which serves hundreds of moms and babies each year. Gabe and Livvy are both living testimony that anyone can do big things for God. Share Tweet Pin Email Subscribe

rprise at the top of Gabe and Livvy’s gift list: they remain passionate approximately helping mission hospitals. They raised $35000 for a hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo and would love to see other kids raise money for similar projects.
“This would make a nice community-building gift, and because the family that receives one could share water with others around them.”
“This is a wonde
rful choice of item because a child can learn to read the Bible and they could learn to write. This would back the child be able to work and support their family when they grow up.”
“By giving a g
oat,the family would possess milk as well as something to trade or sell. This helps the family become steady. When we give in the Name of Jesus, we are being His hands and feet, or others learn of His love through our actions.”
“whether s
omeone is having to flee, this item will provide a secure residence for them to go, and will give them food and water. Maybe they will learn approximately how much Jesus loves them while they are in a secure residence like the refugee camp.”
