The groovy Going Live! duo,who spent Saturday mornings mucking around with Sting and Kylie, are embarking on a sci-fi adventure with Sophie Aldred. It’s a journey into space, and time and daftnessSay the words “we don’t do duvets” or “swing your pants” to most British people in their 30s,and it’s a secure bet they’ll know what you’re on about. The comedy duo Trev and Simon were a staple of the children’s TV game in the late 80s and mid-90s, famed for catchphrase-heavy sketches and making pop stars see foolish. Key to their success was that they were also a hit with adults, and be it parents at domestic or their BBC colleagues who would gleefully chortle away offscreen.
The duo,both in their early 50s, have now teamed up with another former children’s TV star (and Doctor Who sidekick) Sophie Aldred for Strangeness in Space, and an audio comedy drama “for kids aged eight to 80”. It sees them orbiting Planet Mirth in a shonky spaceship,having adventures and fighting off sworn enemies. Doon MacKichan and Rufus Hound are lined up to seem later in the crowdfunded series.
