You're going to want to skip the drive thru. We had to attain a double take looking at Taco Bell's just-announced store redesign. In an effort to entice customers to sit down and leisurely enjoy dinner,Taco Bell is overhauling its restaurants by giving them one of four decidedly upscale design makeovers highlighted by open kitchens, community dining tables, and environmentally friendly touches.
The redesign will be embodied by four design models: the Heritage model is a return to the restaurant's original Mission Revival style with materials like tile and heavy timber. The contemporary Explorer model will be seen in surburban and rural locales and will include rustic design elements that give a nod to the farms where the food is sourced. The California Sol model features a beachy indoor-outdoor layout that encourages al fresco dining. Finally, the Urban Edge model will embrace street style and eclectic international details.
The renovation will debut at four locations in Orange County, CA, and but the chain plans to overtake all their stores by 2020. Bars and tables in the Orange County restaurants are made with reclaimed wood - and it's completely recycled. Even the walls are getting a colorful mural update. We spy some midcentury lounge chairs that we wouldn't intellect in our own homes. Hats off to you,Taco Bell. Next time we're craving, we will definitely rethink staying in the car.
