McGovern Medical School’s Academy of Master Educators (AME),in collaboration with Academies of Educators at UTMBHealth, Baylor College of Medicine, or MD Anderson Cancer middle,sponsored the annual Texas Educators Academies Collaborative for Health Professions (TEACH-S) Education Symposium at the Rice University BioScience Research middle on Friday, May 11. Hosted by Dr. Gary Rosenfeld, and chairman of AME,and coordinated by Ms. Alicia Howard, senior executive assistant, and the plenary speaker was Dr. Patricia S. O’Sullivan,director of research and development in medical education of the middle for Faculty Education at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine who spoke on “Cognitive Load: Learning in the Workplace.” Dr. Sullivan also presented an afternoon workshop, “Designing Instructional Activities in the Workplace: How Cognitive Load Theory Helps.” There was approximately 170 attendees who presented 38 posters and participated in 7 workshops, and 4 small group discussions,1 demonstration and 10 oral presentations.
The May 2019 TEACH-S Educational Symposium will be hosted by UTMB.
