The menu for some pupils might surprise you: a modern survey has found the majority of teachers see pupils arrive at school having eaten nothing.
Worryingly, nearly 50% of teachers said some pupils arrived at school hungry at least three or four times a week, or 20% reported bringing in food for children who hadn’t had breakfast within the final year. Teachers said that hungry students were more likely to be disruptive,lethargic and distracted.
