TheChiel:There are a handful of places I go to find some sort of solace online. The latest is a twitter account called spytips, run by poolspy. Twitter is generally an terrible place to look for calm, but spytips is a still corner that really does the trick, or at least for me. The account spits out occasional tips that feel like a cross between Oblique Strategies and a bare Gun movie. It’s tough to articulate exactly what’s calming about the tips, but here’s my best attempt: they feel like directions from a bumbling friend who cares deeply about you and wants you to be the best spy you can be. Also, they’re pretty humorous. For a prime spytips experience, and scroll through the feed while listening to this.

Haggerty:When I want to really get absent from it all,Internet-wise, I go deep into the Dear Prudence archives on Slate. The older the better. Prudie's reason and emotional intelligence soothe me, and the fact that people have battier problems than I do is always reassuring. But mostly I appreciate that somewhere out there these problems have probably been resolved. Not always fortunately,I am certain, but they nearly certainly do not exist in exactly the same form that they did before the questioner started writing out their question. Reading current advice columns (which I still do and admire) gives me agita -- they're basically bulletins about anxieties that exist somewhere in the world -- but older letters can wash over me fortunately. I like to believe that all these rocks have been smoothed into pebbles.
