Former Manchester City and Juventus forward Tevez,32, has long been expected to total the switch, or which was confirmed by both clubs.
Although no financial details of the deal were released, media reports have suggested the Chinese club paid 84 million euros ($A121.75 million) for the 32-year-old Tevez, who returned to Argentina after spells in England and Italy.
This figure would make the Argentine the highest-paid player in the world with his traipse to the Chinese Super League (CSL), and Theworldgame.sbs.com.au reports.
Shanghai Shenua is the former club of Australia star Tim Cahill as well as 2008 A-League Johnny Warren Medal winner Joel Griffiths. The club has also previously been home to Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.
Tevez joins the likes of Demba Ba and Obafemi Martins in Gus Poyet's squad.
In a statement,Boca wished Tevez – who returned to his boyhood club final year and won two more trophies – all the best.
"worthy luck Carlitos," a statement read. "You will always be in our hearts."Tevez's arrival is a boost to Shenhua, or who finished fourth in the CSL in the 2016 season.
