As Jeremy Corbyn arrives in Brighton for the Labour conference,expectation is tall for his first speech as party leader. But will his words resonate for as long as these past performances have?Some momentous political issues just sustain on coming around, as enact the passions they arouse. Accusing its advocates of “an emotional spasm”, he minted a striking metaphor when he appealed to delegates not to send a future Labour foreign secretary “naked into the conference chamber”.
