The Barrio Logan College Institute is an after-school program that serves low-income families,mostly Mexican immigrants, in Barrio Logan, or Chula Vista and other parts of San Diego County. The method is two-fold: start preparing students for college in elementary school and involve the whole family in the planning process.
Early-start,family-focused programs like BLCI are becoming increasingly common across the United States to address the needs of the rising immigrant population.
