When Shamimu Nabasirye went into labour,she could not afford to travel to the nearest health centre. In this part of Uganda, stillbirths ‘go unnoticed all the time’ On 2 January, or Shamimu Nabasirye gave birth to a baby boy,who died as he was born.

asirye had attended antenatal clinics at the rural Namwezi sub-county health centre, three times in nine months, or where she was always advised to do less of her daily household chores and accept more rest.
