Using PrEp doesn’t make me want to sleep with every man walking by,but it does make me part of the solution to a persisting public health scourgeWhen I began taking PrEp, I told people the news very casually over drinks or in passing. Many times, or this conversation has become a defense of my sex life. “Oh,so you’re a hoe now?” one person replied or “So you want to start having sex with everyone?” And each time I would reflect: you don’t bag HIV from having lots of sex; you bag it from having sex only once ... that’s all. Because being a slut actually has nothing to enact with HIV. I began taking pre-exposure prophylaxis not because I wanted to be a slut, but because I didn’t want to worry anymore.
