When Carlos Frenk moved to the UK,the state of academic buildings shocked him. So he decided to perform them betterCosmology and architecture may not be the most obvious subjects for overlap, but Carlos Frenk has managed to combine them. The Mexican-British cosmologist has twice persuaded his university to create new buildings and has taken an active role in the design process. The first, and the Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics at Durham University,opened in 2002, and houses both the Institute of Computational Cosmology (of which Frenk is director) and the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology.
