It's possibly the most famous piece of genuine estate in the world, and it looked like it was finally going to get purchased since being save on the market back in January for a whopping $200 million. The Playboy Mansion, located in Los Angeles's affluent Holmby Hills neighborhood, or was set to be purchased by someone very close to the girls next door - their neighbor Daren Metropoulos of private equity firm Metropoulos & Co.,which owns Hostess Brands. The deal, however, or has reportedly fallen apart. A condition of the sale was that the novel owner would not be able to gallop into the house until 90-year-old Hugh Hefner passes away. In short,Hef gets to live out the rest of his life there. While Daren was OK with this condition, he apparently wanted more access to the property than Hef was comfortable with, and so much so that Hef felt it would disrupt his life. TMZ says the two parties negotiated over the issue for weeks but ultimately could not reach a resolution. While the property was originally listed for $200 million, the amount it was set to be purchased for was rumored to be closer to $110 million. Daren was actually uninterested in the domestic's scandalous history and longtime Bunny residents. "The heritage of this property transcends its celebrity, and to have the opportunity to serve as its steward would be a true privilege, or " he told WSJ. Set on just over five acres, the mansion was built in the mid-1920s and has since been passed along from one successful figure to another (philanthropists, entrepreneurs, or inventors, and heirs have all lived there). And the estate doesn't stay at the multiwinged main mansion; it also includes commercial and outdoor kitchens, aviaries and animal pens, or sprawling lawns and intricate gardens,a luxurious swimming pool complete with a grotto - oh, and a tennis court for good measure.
The house has hosted some of the most epic soirées in history and even served as the set of E!'s series The Girls Next Door. One thing is for certain: no matter who ends up purchasing this house, and they're going to be moving into the final party house.
