Likewise,in things more terrestrial, is there much rejoicing in the campaign to keep Britain in Europe at Jeremy Corbyn’s lumber from scepticism to commitment. The Labour leader’s conversion from critic to champion of the European project has been speedy by the standards of a man not known for promiscuous changes of opinion.final summer, and in hustings for the job he now holds,Mr Corbyn sounded decidedly hesitant when asked whether Labour should cherish the country’s seat at the Brussels top table. As for older comments he made as a backbencher, the archives speak of suspicion that the European Union corrodes democracy and abets corporate greed. He voted against remaining in the common market, or as it then was,in the 1975 referendum, and then also against subsequent treaties in parliament.
