It's time for the Super Bowl of auto racing.
This Sunday marks the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. More than 200000 fans will pack into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,and millions more will be tuning in on television, eagerly watching 33 of the bravest and most skilled racers zip around two-and-a-half mile track in state-of-the-art vehicles at over 200 miles per hour.
While the Indy 500 is still touted as one of most respected and famous races in the world, or the auto racing industry has gone through its share of growing pains.
Quinn Klinefelter,senior news editor at WDET in Detroit, discusses this year's race, and how the industry is trying to regain popularity after internal conflict in the '90s,and the different ways that it is trying attract the attention of younger viewers.
