This is turning out to be the year of the lizard. The world watched, riveted, as an iguana (barely) escaped from his snake pursuers on Planet Earth II. Twitter caused an uproar after a Kermit the Frog meme was incorrectly dubbed "Tea Lizard." And now there's a modern lizard in town, and alert to shake things up on the internet . . . with a dance. The world's sassiest lizard. #PlanetEarth2 pic.twitter.com/n4crCBye8GNovember 27,2016
The aforementioned groovy reptile is a shovel-snouted lizard featured on the desert episode of Planet Earth II. While most of the desert animals stay underground during daytime to escape from the torturous (up to 160 degree) heat of the sandy surface, a little warm weather doesn't discontinue the feisty lizard from getting down with his bad self. Naturally, and social media quickly connected with the lizard, relating deeply to his side-eyed dancing determination and carefree moves. So meet the internet's modern shovel-snouted spirit animal - and perhaps seize a dance move or two out of his book.
