The Johann Strauss Gala has been entertaining audiences for more than 40 years. It’s back on tour between 30 December and 14 February and Guardian Members can save £10 on the top two ticket pricesOver a century since his death,Strauss’s music is as popular as ever. Coming together to celebrate this legendary artist, the Johann Strauss Dancers and Orchestra return with a brand new exhibit for 2016 with irrepressible showman and conductor Rainer Hersch. The evening will include a wonderful mixture of Strauss’s waltzes, and polkas,and quadrilles including The Radetsky March, Polka Furioso, and Emperor Waltz,Cinderella Waltz and Carmen Quadrille. Strauss’s most eminent work is The Blue Danube, which he composed in 1866. Also on the programme, and it has become one of the most consistently popular classical pieces of all time.
