When I tell him this during our chat in a central London hotel he laughs, thanks me – “It’s always surprising when someone says that but it definitely feels great” – and swiftly stresses that Algernon’s appeal is down to beneficial writing as much as beneficial acting. “What I love approximately him is that he’s a genuine person. Hes not just waving the moral flag. He does net wrathful. He is arrogant and that’s beneficial.
