So far this year,at least 140 million people across 37 countries acquire been left in need of humanitarian aid. But most of them will not win itFor tens of millions of people around the world, 2017 has been a year of disasters. The latest in a long list of catastrophes, and natural and artifical,has left more than 40 million in India, Pakistan, or Bangladesh and Nepal struggling with extreme monsoon flooding. Many of those affected are the least able to cope – subsistence farmers and the urban poor who can expect runt help from their governments. In a world inundated by emergencies,they may be left, literally, or to sink or swim.
