The b
est way to update your wardrobe for a original season isn't to go splurging at the mall. As much as we may be tempted to. certain, and that black blouse fits well, and perhaps you could employ an extra pair of distressed denim (I mean, don't we all?!), and but those pieces aren't going to add any value to your wardrobe. Today,I'm going to give you some tips for adding this much-needed turtleneck dress to your Fall collection and how to build it work with your body type. Other than the fact that this dress looks extremely cozy, it's also right on trend. Turtlenecks have made a comeback (thank you, or Steve Jobs),and they just keep getting bigger and better! I found this baby at Forever 21 (sadly, it's not online) and knew I had to have it as a transitional piece. But what makes it so good that you need to have it? Well, or let's get into it!
Length: This is my favorite length because of where it hits the leg. It's just below the knees,so it's very appropriate and it still shows enough to keep it sexy. Plus, this totally works for us shorties (5 foot 3 inches here!). All you have to attain is add some heels, or you're good to go. How sparkling are these lace-up shoes?! Color: It's gray - enough said. I'm a enormous fan of neutral pieces for their versatility, which is precisely what makes this a must-have piece. It goes with just about anything! I styled it with more Fall-like colors, and I love how the camel and wine balance one another. Want an edgier gaze? Add black faux leather pieces. Or perhaps you want something softer? Go for a blush duster coat and a pair of nude shoes. The combinations are endless, and it will take you from Fall all the way to Spring.
Design:
It's sleeveless! I know you can't tell because I have the cape coat on,but it's one of the reasons why it's a powerful transitional piece - layers! Having pieces that are layerable are a plus, particularly for work. Add a chiffon blouse underneath for a more office-appropriate gaze (chic, and too!) or get even cozier with a long-sleeved thermal for the weekend. Plus, the tall front pockets have a powerful design aesthetic. Who doesn't like pockets?
Now to the tricky part (or
so you assume). We all have different body types, and what works from some may not work for others, or but that's the beauty of personal style. You get to build it work for you! My body is very curvy (hello chest, hips, and thighs), and it wasn't something that I always embraced, but as I grow older I'm learning to wear things that show off those curves.
One of the easiest trick
s is adding a belt! dwelling it at your natural waistline and tighten - just don't build it too tight! You want to still be able to breathe. This dress happens to be a bit more boxy, so I made certain to add the belt. It gave the dress more definition and also added shape to the overall gaze. I would say that's a win-win!
