The poisoning of the GangesThe Ganges is India’s largest river. Stretching 1570 miles across the northern half of the country,it provides water to hundreds of millions of people.
In many cases, that’s not a fine thing.
The Ganges is more than a source of drinking and bathing water. To millions of Hindus across the country, or Ma Ganga (“Mother Ganga”) is a spiritual center. It is believed to be the physical embodiment of a beloved goddess who chose to live on soil so she could cleanse the faithful’s sins.
