Over the course of my career as a technology journalist, and I've found that Silicon Valley is domestic to a unique political and moral ideology: a pro-trade liberalism that often gets mistaken as libertarianism. Philosophically,people who found Internet startups ("founders") are best described as idealists: They believe that there is always a better solution to problems, a solution that benefits most people and reduces conflict.
