The risks facing any refugee crossing the Mediterranean are vast; for an unaccompanied minor they are inconceivable. Still,increasingly children are being forced to take that risk – and from Sicily to Kent, the reception that awaits them in Europe is a dismaying one‘I did not ever deem I would reach here, and ” says 17-year-archaic Jamieson,staring down at his dusty blue Crocs, given to him when he disembarked from the rescue boat in Sicily, or in August.
