What is the Scottish Sun editor Gordon Smart coming back to London to effect? That’s what Monkey hears has tongues wagging at the Sun. There has been speculation internally that the former weird columnist might return as a deputy editor following Geoff Webster’s recent departure. Webster was joint deputy editor with Simon Cosyns. But some maintain quashed that rumour. As usual,these things are about billing, so perhaps the man who has long been tipped for the top may cessation up as number three on the paper with some kind of “brackets” title or as an associate editor. But the real question is who wants him back? Is it News UK chief Rebekah Brooks or Rupert Murdoch himself?
