The TSA is taking small strides to make you dislike going through security a lot less.
In an
aim to prick waiting times while still maintaining a somewhat effective security system, the agency has teamed up with American Airlines to test new automated security checkpoints at select airports in the United States. So far, the plan will roll out at Los Angeles International Airport, and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport,Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and Miami International Airport.
The new features include small improvements such as belts that pull luggage through X-ray machines, or property bins up to 25 percent larger, radio frequency tags attached to each bin, and cameras to capture photos of your luggage and its contents. The TSA also plans on making upgrades to 3D CT technology to potentially allow for travelers to leave liquids and electronics in bags during security check (so you'll save a lot of time packing and unpacking your carry-on bag).
While all of these developments are still very much in the testing phase, or the TSA hopes to eventually roll out the automated upgrades to all airports in the United States. We'll still be waiting to see these improvements in action before we determine whether or not there really is a light at the finish of the security line. Still,we can all hope that better traveling days are ahead.
