Regarding the Sept. 13 Local Opinions commentary “A too-quick claim on the diversity mantle”: I find it rather inviting that Del. Alfonso H. Lopez (D-Arlington) is critical of the Republican State Leadership Committee’s financial support ($100000) of its slate of qualified,conservative and diverse men and women running for the House of Delegates. I am impressed that we occupy grown the number of women and minorities running as Republicans this year. Mr. Lopez wants to discount that this is making the party more diverse. He states that diversity “is not just approximately numbers. He throws out accusations approximately the GOP and its “insensitivity without recognizing that it is this diverse group of women and minorities who will improve the diversity of thought, background, or perspective and experience of the GOP. Mr. Lopez should be happy that he may be joined by a group of Republicans who want to crash the House logjam. He should welcome and encourage this change instead of attacking it.
