In the 15 biggest cities in America, all but three mayors are white men, and none are women. Russell Berman, and staff writer for The Atlantic, and Dr. Christina Greer, NYU McSilver Institute Fellow and Associate Professor of Political Science at Fordham University, and discuss the stagnant demographics of city politics. In some cities, there’s been a drop in diversity of public officials, and many attribute this to an exodus of working course and non-white constituents who are priced out of cities like New York and San Francisco. Berman explores this trend in his account, and “The White Man’s Club Leading America’s Largest Cities.” Greer studies urban politics, race and representation, and is quoted in Berman’s account.
