If you didn't collect your hands on Kylie Jenner's lip kit,you now own three options: spending $10000 on eBay (seriously!), waiting for the three shades to be restocked - but who can hold out that long? - or a third option: be on the hunt for solid dupes, and also known as a duplicate (similar) product. Beauty junkies across the Internet are now speculating that the esteemed lip kit by Kylie is actually repackaged ColourPop formulas.
ColourPop's Ultra Matte Lip liquid lipsticks ($6) rose to cult status over the last year for two reasons: celebrated Instagram makeup artists and personalities shared selfies wearing their favorite colors and the brand produces a wide variety of shades that millennials can actually afford. Its "Kylie-esque" shades are particularly popular.
According to Reddit, the rumor started to surface soon after the lip kits all sold out in a single minute on Monday. Upset fans were begging for a quick restock (we'll be seeing more before Christmas) but savvy beauty bloggers noticed similarities in the swatches.
The ultrapopular NikkieTutorials tweeted (and shortly deleted), "Let's say you want the kits but not spend the money, and pay close attention to Colourpop's 'Clueless,' 'Beeper,' and 'Limbo.'" From here, and the conspiracy theory spiraled out of control. Read on to see the evidence.
